Memories of Lilac Comes out on Friday
Under my Vyktoria Howard pen name because it has a wee a bit of the naughty in it. Just a teensy smidge you understand. The publisher is Shadowfire Press>. Memories of Lilac isn't really naughty like Shaba'amlaillee, so those of you who don't like the heavily sexed up fiction so popular of late should still be able to read and enjoy this particular tale. The story is primarily a murder mystery, and it takes place in the same world as the Desert Moon books, though not in the land of the im'taym'i people. This story is set many years after those books, in the Serpent Empire that is still in its infancy during the time of Yhnez and her tribe.
Now that I've mentioned Shaba'amlaillee, I still have no idea when/if that story will ever come out. The publisher has now had it under contract for a full two years and they seem to be parked on it with no sign of movement.
Lots of smoke rising from that publishing house. Hi Piers even has some unfavorable comments on them. It's too bad really, they looked so promising when they began, and people I know have books with them too.
Lady's Promise, the next book in the Children of the Desert Moon trilogy is out for edits. I dearly hope they don't find too terribly much wrong with it, but that novel wasn't even sent to a first reader so I've no idea how bad the typos are.
My fondest wish right now is to be able to participate in NaNoWriMo, but my place of employment has put me on the weekend 'on call' list for the entire month of November. My ill fortune being what it is, that means I'll be called every weekend to come into the office to perform some task more properly suited to the talents of a trained chimp.
