Memories of Lilac Comes out on Friday
Under my Vyktoria Howard pen name because it has a wee a bit of the naughty in it. Just a teensy smidge you understand. The publisher is Shadowfire Press>. Memories of Lilac isn't really naughty like Shaba'amlaillee, so those of you who don't like the heavily sexed up fiction so popular of late should still be able to read and enjoy this particular tale. The story is primarily a murder mystery, and it takes place in the same world as the Desert Moon books, though not in the land of the im'taym'i people. This story is set many years after those books, in the Serpent Empire that is still in its infancy during the time of Yhnez and her tribe.

Now that I've mentioned Shaba'amlaillee, I still have no idea when/if that story will ever come out. The publisher has now had it under contract for a full two years and they seem to be parked on it with no sign of movement.

Lots of smoke rising from that publishing house. Hi Piers even has some unfavorable comments on them. It's too bad really, they looked so promising when they began, and people I know have books with them too.

Lady's Promise, the next book in the Children of the Desert Moon trilogy is out for edits. I dearly hope they don't find too terribly much wrong with it, but that novel wasn't even sent to a first reader so I've no idea how bad the typos are.

My fondest wish right now is to be able to participate in NaNoWriMo, but my place of employment has put me on the weekend 'on call' list for the entire month of November. My ill fortune being what it is, that means I'll be called every weekend to come into the office to perform some task more properly suited to the talents of a trained chimp.

grr... nothing worse than having a story stagnate.

is this the same publisher we've spoken of before?

'cause I've had one sit with them now for over two years as well... and they got nailed badly with the recent weather storming over their heads.

No, I have nothing left with that particular house. This is another one. They used to be quite good, but they have begun to show some disturbing signs rather reminiscent of the other house we've spoken of.

It looks interesting- I'll hopefully be buying it soon, along with Lady's Promise. Actually, given the prices of the short stories, I might buy it along with The Last Vhalagenn which you recommended.

I'm also planning on re-reading and reviewing Lady's Daughter, which I was planning on holding off on until it was available for sale again. Real life being what it is, I've been later in it than I planned. But I'm somewhat better this month, and I'm in the mood for the series. So I say with certainty that I'll deserve berating if I don't have it done this month!

I must say...is there a point in a pen name when anyone familiar with Children of the Desert Moon will recognize the world? ;)

The pen name is to help readers who don't like books with erotic content tell the difference between my 'regular' books and stories and my slightly to very naughty books.

There's another book coming out soon too, And the Sea is My Mother with the same world setting. It does contain some mild f/f content.
